COVID-19 has affected a lot of people in many different ways, especially their mental health. Many people have experienced various changes in how they live their life, including irregular daily routines, financial pressures, and social isolation. During that time many people experienced stress, anxiety, fear, sadness, and loneliness. Surveys have shown that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of U.S. citizens who experienced symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression has increased.

In an effort to deal with their anxieties about the pandemic, some people have increased their usage of alcohol and drugs. In reality, utilizing these drugs might make depression and anxiety worse. Some ways you can improve your mental health is to maintain a daily routine or schedule. In addition to sticking to a regular bedtime routine, keep consistent times for meals, bathing and getting dressed, work or study schedules, and exercise. Also set aside time for activities you enjoy. Another thing you can do to improve your mental health is to talk with your friends whether that be on messages, facetime, or even zoom. Keeping in touch with your friends and family allows you to bond with them and have fun as well as keeping you occupied or busy. Some positive and effective way to maintain your mental health is to take care of your body. Physical health is just as important as your mental health so it’s really important to get enough sleep. Have a good sleep schedule, meaning go to bed and get up at the same time each day. Make sure to exercise daily and participate in regular physical activity. This can help reduce anxiety and improve your mood. Eating healthy is also very beneficial. Limit caffeine because it can aggravate stress, anxiety, and sleep problems.
